bitcoin ownership

Owning 0.1 BTC today puts you in a small but growing group of Bitcoin holders, but not quite in the top 1% yet. Let’s break it down:

1. Top 1% of Bitcoin Holders Today

As of 2025:

  • There are over 45 million Bitcoin wallets.
  • Less than 1% of wallets hold 0.1 BTC or more.
  • But: many people own multiple wallets, and many wallets belong to exchanges, so wallet count isn’t the same as individual people.

Estimates suggest you need to own around 1–2 BTC to be in the top 1% of actual holders (by individuals, not wallets).

2. What Happens in the Future?

If Bitcoin adoption continues to grow and becomes global money:

  • Say 1 billion people use Bitcoin.
  • There will only ever be 21 million BTC.
  • That’s just 0.021 BTC per person if distributed evenly.

So owning 0.1 BTC would be nearly 5x the global per capita average in such a future.

Conclusion

Right now: 0.1 BTC ≠ top 1%, but still well above average.
In the future (mass adoption): 0.1 BTC could put you in the top 1% of holders in terms of individual ownership.

It’s a strong position to hold long-term.
